Marvin naging waiter, janitor, bartender at mascot: Hindi mo malilimutan yung first love mo…

“Bago ako naging artista I was already in the food industry. I was working in Tia Maria’s as a waiter, janitor, bartender, and even sa kusina.

“But even before that I was a mascot. And both my sisters, yung middle namin and yung eldest, yung isa sa Shakey’s kaya nauuto niya ako mag-mascot tapos yung isa naman sa Dunkin’ Donuts.

Aniya pa, “Even before acting, yun na yung kinahinatnan kong mundo. And then I got into acting nga and then parang an opportunity to change not just my life but our family’s lives. I grabbed it.

“I got into showbusiness. I got into acting and hindi mo malilimutan yung first love mo, eh.

I studied filmmaking in New York. I took Digital Filmmaking in NYU (New York University).

“I was there for five months. I was there when Trump won. Ha-hahaha! So it was during that time. Nakakapagod ang restaurant ah. Sabi ko nga pambata ang restaurant.

“Kaya nga nasu-surprise ako that I got really reunited with my first love. Kasi nga pagod na ako with food. Nakakapagod siya. Dealing with several branches, the headache is sometimes unbearable. Food cost, labor cost, quality of food, you have to be consistent. It’s crazy.

And then pandemic and now I’m back actually.

“It’s very difficult to get into the food business but it’s not impossible. If it’s something that you really want to do, it’s coming from the heart, and if it’s something that you have a relationship with, ano siya eh, relasyon.

“It takes focus, dedication, and hard work. Madaling makapagluto ng masarap na dish, but doing it over and over and making it consistent, it requires discipline, process, systems, so kailangan mo siyang seryosohin,” lahad ni Marvin.

Bukod sa kanyang bestselling carrot cake at cochinillo, marami pang balak si Marvin para sa kanyang food business, “I’m actually very busy. I’m from Pampanga and I love our tocinos from Pampanga. So I’m actually creating my own homemade tocino that soon I’ll be launching that.

“But other than food creations, I’m actually starting to brainstorm with some people. I want to discover food and stories from different places in the Philippines. I want to discover and know more about where I am from.

“I am actually writing now  about the things that I want to know about where I came from. Soon when it’s safe to travel already, I want to discover Pampanga more and I will document that. I will show how I will discover my roots,” pahayag pa ni Marvin Agustin.
